About Sunday Shorts
Sunday Shorts was founded in 2015 by Kate Fleming to provide a platform for filmmakers to present their latest work in a relaxed setting. Among the first filmmakers to be selected was Lee Squires who became the festival director in 2016, and was joined by Maria Bolocan in 2017.
Sunday Shorts is now an international monthly short film festival and script competition with awards and screenings in London and Lisbon, with plans to also operate in Berlin.
We have become known for our friendly and thoughtful approach, as passionate writers and filmmakers, we are very supportive of every project we receive.
Our events are free to attend, and are a great place for creatives to meet like-minded people and gain an insight into independent filmmaking around the world.
Each month, we curate a diverse program by selecting 8 short films to be screened to a live audience. Unlike other festivals, we emphasise the importance of filmmaker Q&As, and strive to present one along with every film selected. Local filmmakers are invited to attend the festival, and international filmmakers have the opportunity to pre-recorded a Q&A video.
